About the reserve

Once part of the much larger Bloxholm Hall estate, Bloxholm Wood was leased by the Trust in 2013. Work is under way to increase the diversity of age, species and structure of the woodland, whilst eliminating the invasive non-native scrub species left over from its previous management.

A network of footpaths exist allowing visitors to explore the woodland where they will find remarkable ancient coppiced ash, sycamore and horse chestnut trees, impressive stands of early purple orchids, and vast arrays of bugle. Buzzards are known to breed in the woodland and other notable bird species include woodcock, tawny owl and nuthatch. The reserve is situated at the south end of the B1191, close to the junction with the A15.
