Dragonfly Day - Odonata Spotting Walk
Whisby Nature Park,
Moor Lane, Thorpe-on-the-Hill, LN6 9BWAbout the event
Join the Whisby wardens as they take you on a guided walk around the Whisby Dragonfly Hotspots to introduce you to some of Whisby's most amazing Odonata. Due to it's high quality habitats, Whisby Nature Park has been designated as a Dragonfly Hotspot by the British Dragonfly Society. This walk is part of our Dragonfly Day event, to celebrate this designation.
While many of our nearest paths are reasonably flat and accessible, please bear in mind that this event will involve traversing a good distance into the reserve. Please make sure you are wearing sturdy and comfortable footwear and that you are prepared for the weather on the day. The walk routes around Whisby can be a little exposed to the elements, so make sure you're geared up, rain or shine.
This event is specifically aimed at adults and others who already know a little about dragonflies and damselflies but would like to know more. The family events will instead take place within the Education Centre grounds only.
Due to the professional nature of the walk's information, there will be a charge of £5.00 per person and spaces will be limited.
The wardens will meet the walk attendees at the entrance to Whisby Education Centre, and the group will depart for the walk shortly after. After a walk and talk around the lakes of Whisby Nature Park, the walk will return to Whisby Education Centre for a 3pm finish.
