About the event

Have you always wanted to pond dip but didn’t know where or how to do it? Join the team at Whisby Education Centre and Alex Pickwell, a freshwater invertebrate specialist, for this fun and informative day and learn about the invertebrates that inhabit Thorpe Lake. Come and get your hands wet discovering pond life up close.

The day will include:

  • Classroom time - refreshments (tea, coffee, biscuits), introductions, review of invertebrates likely to be found and basic ID tips.
  • Pond dipping and identification of what we find.

Suitable for beginners and those with some identification skills. Adults only. Please note: there is a morning session running from 10am to 12.30pm and an afternoon session running from 1.30pm to 4pm. Please purchase a ticket for the session you would like to attend.

Parking available in visitor car park, parking charges apply. Refreshments are included and are available throughout the workshop, but you will need to bring your own lunch (or money for lunch at the Natural World Centre).

We have standard Adult tickets and Student tickets available. If you purchase a student ticket, please make sure you bring your student ID with you on the day.
