Wildlife Trusts celebrate £81K donation

Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust

Shoppers have raised a fantastic amount to improve local nature reserves, fund educational activities for the public and supply bug hunting kits for curious kids through Lincolnshire Co-op’s Community Champions scheme

Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust, Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust and Yorkshire Wildlife Trust were named as Lincolnshire Co-op’s Community Champions between June and September. A donation was made to the charities each time a Lincolnshire Co-op member shopped using their dividend card, amounting to a whopping £81,636.

The total was shared between four local wildlife trusts: Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust received £72,249, Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust received £7,454 and Yorkshire Wildlife Trust received over £1,900.

Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust was presented with its share at Gibraltar Point Nature Reserve in Skegness, with colleagues from Lincolnshire Co-op and members of the public in attendance to celebrate by the sea.

This is an incredibly generous donation to our work, we thank Lincolnshire Co-op and their members for their support. This is a significant donation that will help our work engaging young people with the natural world in Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire.

The Community Champions scheme is one of the ways that Lincolnshire Co-op gives back to the community. Every time a member shops at an outlet using their dividend card, a donation goes to the chosen champion at the time.

Outlets are currently raising money for local causes. Over 90 groups are being supported, including schools, scout groups and sports clubs between September and December.

Just by spending with us and using their dividend card, members can raise money for these great causes. It’s a great way for our customers to give back to the community.
