Geoff Trinder (June 1941 - 9 September 2026) | Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust

It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust President, Geoff Trinder. Geoff died on Wednesday 9 September 2026 at the age of 85.

Geoff Trinder was a member of the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust for over 60 years after first becoming involved in the mid-1970s. He was a founding member and Chair of the Isle of Axholme Area Group, and the volunteer reserve manager for Epworth Turbary nature reserve for 41 years. He was the Chair of the Board of Trustees before becoming President in 2017, a post which he held until his death.

It was as a wildlife photographer that Geoff was perhaps most well-known. He took early retirement from a 31-year career teaching art in a comprehensive school to devote more time to conservation and photography. He travelled the world in search of wildlife but never lost sight of the experiences close to home. Indeed, many of his photographs were taken in the garden which Geoff and his wife Chris (who passed away in 2025) cared for to encourage wildlife.

To celebrate the Trust’s 60th anniversary in 2008, Geoff produced “Wild Lincolnshire”, a book about Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust reserves, which he wrote and beautifully illustrated with his photographs. Geoff was a popular and engaging speaker at Area Group meetings and photography clubs, and regularly wrote articles for the Trust’s “Lapwings” magazine where he encouraged readers of his articles to broaden their horizons, get out and experience wildlife.

Geoff will be deeply missed by all at the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust. Our thoughts are with his family.
