Hello from Gainsborough Area Group!

Welcome to our page. Here you can find information on our activities, details of our programmes and talks, and find out how you can get involved.

We hold talks and presentations on local wildlife interests regularly throughout the winter months at St Stephens Methodist Church in Gainsborough, and two or three field trips during the summer. Non-members are always welcome and the £2.50 (or more if you like!) entrance fee for the indoor meetings includes tea, coffee and biscuits.

About us

Events

All talks are held on a Wednesday, 7.30pm at St Stephens Methodist Church, Gainsborough, DN21 2DP (in the centre of town right by The Roseway car park). Refreshments are served during the interval. Raffle tickets are £1 each - raffle prize donations are most welcome (non-alcoholic).

A minimum donation of £2.50 is requested for our talks. No booking required. You do not need to be a member to join our activities, all welcome!

21 Oct: Nature's Recovery in Greater Lincolnshire by Tammy Smalley, Head of Conservation for Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust.

Tammy Smalley, Head of Conservation at the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust, will give a fascinating insider’s look at the ambitious efforts to restore and rewild our county. From peatland revival to catchment restoration, marine enhancement to land management, Tammy and her team are at the frontline of building a more resilient, biodiverse future.

18 Nov: Whisby Nature Park by Jill Dobbie, warden at Whisby.

Whisby Nature Park is a beautiful landscape near Lincoln, full of wildlife, walks and trails. Once barren and lifeless, this amazing place now abounds with wildlife. The park was created by quarrying for sand and gravel, but nature has reclaimed the pits and bare sand, creating habitats for many species.

To join one of our walks and for more information on each visit, please contact Nigel Bowler at nigelbowler61@gmail.com. Further details may be emailed out nearer the time to all persons who express an interest in attending. Places are limited on some of these events.

All outdoor visits are subject to the weather, and plans may have to be altered at short notice. The ground may be uneven in places and there are no facilities at any of the venues. Suitable clothing is advised, including footwear. The meetings can vary in length from 1 – 3 hours.
