About the event
Thorne, Goole and Crowle Moors, together with Hatfield Moors, are the remnants of a formerly more extensive area of wetland which occupied the flood plain of the Humberhead Levels several thousand years ago. They form the largest complex of lowland raised bog in Britain covering an area of 3318 hectares (8201 acres). Barton Area Group's regular field trips are open to everyone - you don't need to be a member.
Meet at the car park at Ness End, Far Ings National Nature Reserve, for 9am to go together - car sharing is available. This is a full-day activity and is expected to finish around 4pm.
To get to Ness End Farm from Barton-upon-Humber, travel west along Far Ings Road, go past the brown signs for Far Ings Visitor Centre and past the turning for the hotel. The road narrows and after 300 yards Ness End Farm car park is on your right (please note that the postcode for satnav is DN18 5RG, but this will also take you to the main Visitor Centre car park).
