A New Moth for Whisby

A beautiful new moth species of moth, the Merveille du Jour, was recorded at Whisby from the oaks on the eastern side of Thorpe Lake during early October.

Merveille du Jour

Green is a rather rare colour in British moths and this species uses its appearance to camouflage itself aginst lichen and moss-covered tree trunks where it rests during the day.
