Killingholme Haven Pits

A complex of four flooded clay pits with associated rough grassland and scrub.

Complex of four flooded clay pits. The reserve is important for its saline lagoon habitat, which supports several rare invertebrate species. The list of scarce and rare bird species includes spoonbill, avocet, little egret, little and Temminck's stints, red-necked phalarope, and curlew, pectoral, Baird's and white-rumped sandpipers.

Please note we are currently working with Natural England to improve the nature reserve for wildlife, which involves changing the water levels on site. Please see this discussion post on Flickr for more details. http://bit.ly/2qk9SGa
