Guided walks and events

The wardens and education officers run a range of guided walks and children's actvities throughout the year. 

 

The Barn

‘The Barn’ is open for views over Dave’s Island, information and interpretation. Volunteers are present to assist on most Sundays and Mondays from 10.30am - 12.30pm at the entrance archway beyond the Natural World Visitor Centre.

At the Natural World Centre, you’ll find a great bistro serving hot and cold snacks, meals and treats from locally sourced produce, a fantastically stocked shop and amazing adventure play for children of all ages.

The Boardwalk Café

The Boardwalk Bistro offers you a range of menu options using locally sourced produce wherever possible. With stunning views over Thorpe Lake and the Nature Park beyond, you can take in the view while savouring our delicious menu.

Gift Shop

From local craft suppliers to a fun range of affordable pocket money pocket money toys, you’ll find a wide range of gifts and treats in store for you in the Natural World Centre’s gift shop. Find fascinating books covering such topics as birds, fungi and general wildlife. For those interested in identifying species we sell FSC guides which are practical booklets to use whilst walking around the reserve.

Children’s Adventure Play

Little Darters Wildlife Adventure Area is packed full of exciting tunnels, bridges and sand pits. Kids are guaranteed a whale of a time! Youngsters are able to watch wildlife in action, go underground in the earth tunnel and climb up the nature exploration towers!

You can enjoy a coffee and one of our delicious cakes whilst watching your children play at Otter’s Café.

Otter’s Reach Indoor Adventure provides an all-weather experience and an educational resource for younger visitors aged 3 and upwards to a maximum height of 1.3m. Make the most of your journey through Whisby
– from its origins as Whisby Pits to the attraction and wildlife haven it is today. The area allows younger visitors to explore and experience the park’s history through imaginative play and includes a gravel plant with hands on features, bullrush stilt posts, spiders web climb, raptors’ nest and more. Their new mini assault course is an extension to Little Darter’s Wildlife Adventure Area gives the opportunity for older children to enjoy Little Darters and features a balance rope, lookout tower and climbing net. The area is suitable for a range of ages starting at 6 years old.

These adventure areas are completely FREE for all the family to enjoy.
