Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust celebrate 75th Anniversary with Wilder Lincolnshire Festival

During 2023, Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust are celebrating the 75th anniversary since their foundation in December 1948.

As part of their plans, the Trust, who work to save wildlife and wild places across Greater Lincolnshire, will be holding a Wilder Lincolnshire Festival on the weekend of 23-24 September at Doddington Hall.

There will be a range of activities such as pond dipping, crafts, wood working, yoga and mindfulness. Children and families will be especially welcome. Alongside this, there will be a number of other wildlife and community organisations present including the RSPB, Butterfly Conservation, Saxilby Nature Project and the Nettleham Woodland Trust. They will also be running activities and giving advice and information on a range of wildlife related topics.

The aim of the festival will be to celebrate the work of the Trust over the last 75 years whilst bringing people and communities together from across the county to learn how to rewild themselves and their local spaces.

Paul Learoyd, Chief Executive of the Trust said:
“We are delighted to be celebrating our 75th anniversary this year and there is no better way than to inspire people and communities to bring nature back into their lives. It has become clear that people need nature as much as nature needs people and this event promises to be the perfect way to bring both together in a fun and informal way.

The event will be held at Doddington Hall, near Lincoln. Doddington is the home of Claire and James Birch who have embarked on a project to rewild their 1,900-acre (770ha) estate and turn the land back to a more natural state.

Claire Birch said:
we are delighted to be hosting the Wilder Lincolnshire Festival and helping the Trust to celebrate their anniversary in this way. At Doddington, we are proud to be bringing nature back at a landscape scale and hope that our work will provide a suitable backdrop to inspire others to help nature in their own local areas and homes.”

The event will be held on the lawn by the lake at Doddington Hall and will run from 11am to 4pm on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th September.
