Sanctuary by Art Pop-Up is a community creative adventure with artist Emily Bowers this summer as she explores Deeping Lakes nature reserve

Over the last year and a half, the sanctuary provided by nature reserves and other green spaces has been recognised by many. This exciting new project - a partnership between Art Pop-Up and the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust - will delve deeper into these feelings and provide opportunities for local people to develop their own creative response to the nature reserve.

Throughout July, artist Emily Bowers will investigate the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust’s Deeping Lakes nature reserve. She will learn about the plants and animals that it’s home to, its fascinating history and how it became a nature reserve. Emily will also talk to local groups about their relationship with the space and learn about why it’s precious to so many people.

Then in August, there will be free, fun, creative workshops, walks and talks. There’s an open invitation to local people to join these events and be part of the creative journey.

Artist Emily Bowers, said:
“What really stuck me about Deeping Lakes is that before you even get out of your car, you know you are somewhere special just from the amount of natural sound! You feel transported to somewhere completely different. I can't wait to spend time here soaking it all in, learning the stories of the creatures/plants that live here and about how this safe space for nature has been made possible. There is a lot of magic to be discovered and stories to be shared!”

Sam Roddan, Director, Art Pop-Up said:
“There will be lots of opportunities to get involved, so please join in as we share the stories and celebrate this very special place!”
