Gemma Watkinson of the Lincolnshire Dormouse Group will present on the ecology of the hazel dormouse, the history of the project that has brought them back to Lincolnshire, how the population is monitored and the considered success of the project.

After extensive surveys for hazel dormouse in the 1980s, the species was considered to be extinct in Lincolnshire. Dormice were the subject of an English Nature Species Recovery Programme, and in 2002 there were 32 dormice released into the Lincolnshire Limewoods. Since then the population has been monitored monthly using nest boxes, and the Lincolnshire Dormouse Group was established in 2010 to continue the monitoring.
